I installed a good am/fm radio. It has two posts and fits
like the original. I even reused the original knobs. Also,
The 6x9 speakers in the doors. I cut the door panels
out to fit the speakers but they had already been drilled
thru for some smaller speakers the previous owner had.

I knew I had an old picture here somewhere. I think I filed
the mounting plate a little bit to make it fit.

Best upgrades? Hmmm...

1. Swapping the old 97 F150 for the 67 F100 short stepside.

2. Installing the 4V intake and Edelbrock 500cfm carb along with the headers, full 2.5in dual exhaust turned out in front of right rear tire.

3. Replacing transmission that was destroyed within a week of the above mods....

Next spring...

1. Power Steering update.

2 A/C (Texas is hot)

3. Paint and new wood bed floor.

My best mod was to put in the electronic ignition distributor, module, and coil out of a 78 T-Bird 400cid.

Sounds and runs like a new truck!

I had to buy plug wires for a 1980 f-150 460 engine.

Not too long ago I would have agreed. I own a 72 XLT with 37k miles on it, the truck is in
excellent condition and here's what I have picked up for it in the last couple of months;

Image
I still need two more speakers (tweeters), sub-woofer and an amp for the woofer.

Image
cam, lifters, timing set and a new Holley.

Image
Headers.

Image
And a 3 1/2" LCD TV and rear-view camera. The LCD fits perfect above the rear vies mirror.

I was going to leave it all original but decided I will own it for a long time. We only use it to tow our
vintage travel trailer so we want to enjoy our travel time.

The stereo has a remote and I thought about mounting it under the seat but I figured installing it in the
dash will just make it so much easier to use (and I like finally having a clock  )

I installed a 1980 - 1986 factory Ford Pickup (normally center, top of dash mounted) digital clock under the dash of my 1968 F100.

It's hardly the same truck anymore...

Replacing all of the sheemetal a second time "rebody #2" on my '69 F100 2WD (350,000+ miles on it and I live in the "rust belt") from a southern junkyard 68F100...
Plastic front & rear fenderwell liners from 76-79 F-series front fenderwells
Electronic ignition (Duraspark distributor triggering a MP orange box)
Undercoating chemical from JC Whitney (far better than Eastwood's stuff)
Rustproofing the cab inner structure, door insides, and inside hood w/ Eastwood's rust preventative
Sony CD player in dash - custom bracket designed and fabricated by me that allows the use of the stock bezel
2.75 gears in the rear axle far nicer cruise at 70+ mph
radial tires for the rough frost-heaved roads around here
T-18 instead of the 3-speed (200,000+ miles ago)
K-H Trailer Brake controller for when I am pulling those heavier loads
velour seat re-covered by my friend's custom upholstery
added grease zerks to the door hinges (its always a mess trying to oil the hinge bushings)

That's about all I can think of off the top of my head...
