Bypass or remove the resistor wire?

Im stalling an accel breakerless dist. and coil. The instructions say to remove, or bypass the resistor wire. How do I do that? What does the resistor look like?

Before I put the new engine in the truck it had a points conversion kit on it.

What's the best way to do this? I'm not a wiring guy.

The resistor wire is a pink (yes, pink) wire coming off your ignition switch. It goes over to a connector that goes out to your coil, along with your oil pressure and coolant temp wires. I had to remove this wire when I installed my Pertronix II system! :D

I bypassed mine putting the Petronix in. Just ran another wire from the same plug space as the resistor wire off the ignition plug. In case I needed to switch back to points.

Can I just remove that wire? Or do I have to bypass it?

Isn't there another resistor wire?

Here are some pics. I don't see a pink wire going into the ignition. But I do see one that leads to panel light just above my parking brake.

I don;t know about your truck but on mine the resistor wire was right behind the instrument cluster.

It had a bullet style connector on it that connected to a green wire with a red stripe on it.

The wire also had stamped on it "resistor wire"

Which ignition plug? The one that comes out of the firewall? Or at the key cylinder?

We really need a tutorial about this.

I was think of just running a wire from the battery to a toggle to the coil.

Here are a couple closeup pics of the resistor wire. Notice how it's specially marked as such.

I wouldn't remove it, just by-pass it, in case you ever decide to reinstall the points.
