The Explorer package was available on trucks starting in '68. See the following link:

This thread got me thinking of how awesome it would be to have a picture of a Ford Truck dealer's lot from the late 60's / early 70's !!!!! The cool factor would be high on that!!!!

The weird moire pattern is caused from scanning a half-tone image...that is, something scanned from a catalog or brochure.

Mirrors are dealer-installed options...they don't actually roll off the assembly line with them installed.

think about what it would be like to go back in time and check out all the bumps in the showroom and lot, and see you exact truck before it was sold  that would be super duper cool

While looking at that way cool pic of the dealership i noticed the trucks are missing rear bumpers and side view mirrors, were the rear bumpers and mirrors installed per buyers request?

I think they were to the customers request and to how they were gonna use the truck. Like a CS would have got either swing locks or the CS mirrors. If the owner wasnt gonna do any kind of towing they might have choose the sport bumper.

mirrors and bumpers could be dealer installed items. or you could buy the truck without those items and have them installed yourself.
