Update: Got the starter to turn with a direct hot to the solenoid post but i still cant get the key to turn it i guess the switch is bad.
the problem was the wire was not the proper gauge and would not carry current i am guessing...
now to just get the key to turn it!!!

I didn't see anyone mention it, but you might use a test light or volt meter, pull the wire off the S terminal on the solenoid, and have a buddy turn the ignition switch. If you get a full 12V+ on that terminal, or the test light lights up, the solenoid should be getting power correctly from the ignition switch. It's even possible that the ignition switch itself is bad. The wiring on these trucks is pretty simple. Shouldn't be too hard to trace the S terminal wire back into the cab.
