front bumper on ebay

Post by ejgator »

An auction on ebay describes a front bumper chrome w/o pad holes. He won't respond to my question "what's a pad hole?". Does anyone have a clue what he's trying to convey?

Thanks,
Gator

Hi,

Attach the link to the sale and maybe we can figure it out.

I believe they're referring to the factory bumper guards. However, IIRC these don't require additional holes in the bumper....they just clamp on. (I'll have to double-check mine to be certain though.)....so I'm not sure WHAT they're talking about, unless they're assuming that those bumper guards require drilling to be mounted. :hmm:

:yt: Mine just clamped on. I think they used the regular bumper bolt holes.

Hi,

If you go to ebay and go to the sale you're interested in. At the top of your browser you'll see the address "http:: ebay, sale ???? etc." Highlight the address and right click your mouse and select copy. Then go to post reply to this subject and somewhere in the reply box right click your mouse again and select paste. Viola, your done.

Hope that helped,
Lee

I would assume this guy sells many types of bumpers and he is probably referring to the black plastic that goes along the front of some newer bumpers. He is listing this as w/o or without pad holes because he doesnt realize they never had the black trim and thus no holes. Just my opinion.

Why would the engine size matter for what the front bumper is?

Excellent Gator,

I'd have to agree with GT and Lance about the meaning. They lost me with the pad holes and engine size thing :? . That's one sharp looking bumper though and would look awesome on one of our trucks.

Good luck,
Lee

Their auction listing is probably built using a template, so not all information on every one of their auctions will apply to every item in every auction....that way all they have to do is change the picture and the pertinent info on the item itself and then post it.

Yeah, I also forgot that these bumpers fit up through '77, and the '76-'77 bumpers did have rubber pads that ran across the front, like this:

Obsolete Ford lists theirs that way even though the 78-79 with the plastic insert is a different profile. Their ad is just as confusing.
