Staightening out aluminum grill

Any tips on strightening out the 67 - 69aluminum grill? Mine has some bends in it, but no kinks, so I'm hoping its possible to straighten it out so it's at least presentable. Doesn't need to be perfect.

Wasn't sure if light hammering on it was better or maybe gradually bending it against a block of wood.

Use a "deadblow hammer". Soft wood, like pine spindles you can get at Home Depo or Loewz. You then shape the tip of the spindle to fit the dented area. Rest the dent against a bean-bag. Using gentle taps you will push those dents right out. Follow up with copius amounts of polishing and you will have a better than new looking grille.

Is it possible to pound out dents in dog dish hubcaps that way too?

Does a deadblow hammer have a rubber head?

Yep. Rubberhead. Like mine.
Inside the head are little pellets of metal or somthing. You can tell if its a deadblow by shaking it back and forth. You should feel and possibly hear the little pellets rattle around.
As for the hubcap Not sure if this method will work. The stainless is a lot tougher than aluminum.
If you just need them be presentable I would try it myself.

I used a large dowel rod, don't recall the size, and I just slowly and gently applied hand pressure to straighten it out...worked pretty good for my taste.
