Iv'e got a question. It's a goodern this time.

Post by Crazy_B »

On my hazard lights the switch in the glove box is gone and I can't afford another one right now.So I wired the three sockets together that sen the power to the lights and hooked the whole thing to a toggle switch. If the three wires are hooked to the toggle switch with the hot wire hooked to the hot side, then you turn the turn signal on the column on, then all four lights flash. Whether or not the hazard switch is on. If you unhook the the accessory post of the switch then the turn signal works like it is supposed to. Why does it work this way? :? Can it be bypassed and have that switch hooked up all the time? :? Did I confuse ya'll? :? And Does Victoria really have a secret? :? Disregard that last comment my mind went to wondering again.  Thanks for the help. Lord knows that I need it.

I don't know the answer to make it all work right, but I would just leave the haz wiring undone till you can get out yarding and find one. Not unless you really need to have the hazards wired up.

I would ask the forum members if anyone might have one they would be willing to let go for a reasonable price.

You can't hardwire all the lights together, they have to remain isolated to separate the front left, front right and rear stop lights so the turn signals will still work.

Check out this thread and see if it makes sense:

I don't understand how your turn signals are working ok. You have the right front, left front and rear stoplights all tied together so it seems like they all would be flashing when you flip the turn signal lever in either direction. :hmm:

Well, the fancy smancy schematic capture software is on the work pc so here's something on a post-it. :D

The top shows what the 3PST switch looks like. The dotted line means all three switches are ganged together. It's not an electrical connection, just means they all flip or switch at the same time.

The bottom shows the two jumpers tieing all the inputs together. The input power comes from the emergency flasher. The outputs go to the right front, left front and the rear stoplights.

Pricewise, I think it's a wash so why not try posting in the "parts wanted" section and replace original with original?
