Took about a week of slowly spot welding and grinding, but, it's done.

Now to the passenger side. the back corner of this panel was in pretty bad shape, so, I ordered another back-half from LMC. But, this panel was not as good of a stamping as the other side (and that side wasn't all that hot either!). So, I decided to just use a section of that panel. the bump was really bad on that stamping, so, cut it so just the end of the bump was there.

trimmed the panels, and clamped them together for welding.

primered box side, and began the process of lining it up, which was a giant pain, being such a long panel, in preparation for welding it on.

Tailgate. So, I had two of them. Did some work combining two into one, but, turns out, neither one was really any good. So, just decided to bite the bullet, and order a new one from Dennis Carpenter.

Oh, before I get too far ahead, did get a peice fabbed up to cover the marker light on the pass. side.

New tail gate has been installed after priming. Took some doing, though. The Dennis Carpenter repop tail gate has a few issues. Holes where the latches are on each end are not in the perfect spot, so, had to enlarge the hole on the striker plate on each side, to get it to lock. Also, had to increase the size of the bolt holes, on the left side hinge, so I could get the tailgate to line up with the body, it was sticking out. Have to do a little more work with that.

Scored a set of seats out of a 97 -150. I had these same seats in my 97, except they were leather, and I always thought they were really comfortable. So, have to work on mounting brackets for them, when I get to that point.

Grabbed a steering wheel from the salvage yard, so I can get the steering hooked up, much easier moving this thing around.

Remember the Polar Vortex last February? Due to that, a rather large chunk of overtime has allowed a major part of the truck to get purchased. I was wanting to take the engine to the machine shop, and get it rebuilt. But, I did a ton of research, and decided to go with a reman engine, just for the cost savings. So, spent a few weeks doing research, and found a 351w reman from Powertrain Products. I will be checking this thing over with a fine tooth comb, including checking to see if they used assembly lube, and double checking the torque on all the bolts.

Engine checks out well, torque is correct, and there is assembly lube (checked a couple of main bearings). So, time to pretty it up with some primer and Ford blue.

Been buying all the goodies that go with it. New flywheel, clutch, the clutch hydraulics, water pump, power steering pump, harmonic balancer, etc. Oh, and picked up the topper for it also....

The plan is to use the factory serpentine belt system. So, been cleaning up the brackets and what-not. Going to get the pulleys powder coated.

with most of the engine assembled and ready to install. Picked up a set of Cobra valve covers for it, will get the matching air cleaner.

To install the engine, pulled the front clip and cab. Makes it much easier! Mated the engine and trans.
