Removing Cab isolator bushings.

Post by fordfanatic »

How in the world do these come off? I'm trying to strip my frame for blasting, and can't figure out how to remove the rubber bushings for the cab. Any help out there? :hmm:

If the cab is off you can knock them apart with a long punch. Stick it in the hole and catch the lip inside.

Thanks Mark.It appears here is no sure way to remove these, so I'll give some of those techniques a try.

I just did this on a 73-79 cab (with the cab still on the truck but jacked up about 3"). I think the 67-72 mounts are the same

the metal sleeves are hardened so a sawzall won't cut them(and the rubber makes the blade drag). I took a 4 1/2" angle grinder and made 6 cuts around the nut on the bottom steel part. make the cuts as close to the nut as posible, and the lower steel washer falls right off. then just push the mount up and take it off the frame. the nut stays on the sleeve, but the nut is smaller than the hole in the frame

I came up with this method after fighting one mount for 2 hours. the other 3 mounts took 20 minutes total.
