Marvel Mystery Oil ??

Post by oldreliable »

I have heard good reports about it, and, indeed, once used it in a junker car with decent results, so I'm wondering if any of you bumpsiders have used it in your trucks. What'd'ya think?

Thanks.

John,

I haven't used it in my truck, but I just got the truck. I have used it in my Alfa Romeo, and it does a great job. The Alfa has an old diesel style fuel injection system, and the oil in the fuel keeps the system lubricated. Where it is only a summer car this is key to keep the system up and running. I'm not sure how it would work and what benefits it might afford a carburated vehicle. I can't imagine it could do any harm.

I put it in the gas for my 35 to lube the valves. Never had a problem. My Uncle was a GM mechanic and he used it religiously. He said they used it during WW2 when he was a P-38 Lightening mechanic.

Never put it in the bump though, although I can't see what it would hurt.

I just put some in my bump fer the first time last week,I haven't driven it enough to see any results yet though. I use it in my diesels all the time. I use a lot of off-road diesel and i make some black diesel too I use it in there as an additive. It seems to help, there is an old man here who is a diesel mechanic and he swears by the stuff!

Just put a quart in the 67, 300-6, just before my spring oil change. Drove about 100 miles and changed the oil.
This is the 3rd time Ive done this in the 9 years Ive owned the truck. Seem to help.

Ive use marvel many times on different things, had a lifter that was tapping once and added some to the oil and it freed the lifter and seem to make the motor run better to. I use it every fall to winterize my boat, i start the engine and rev to 1500-2000 rpms and start pouring in the carb lightly to start and more and more until it cuts off. in the spring the engine starts fine and get a little smoke like bad valve seals on the first start but thats just letting me know the cylinders were still lubed, works good on trucks being stored for the winter too. in my opinion anyone that owns a toolbox should have a can of marvel mystery oil to go with it.

I had some sticking valves on my truck from setting three years and after I got them freed up I put a can in and have had no more trouble with valves sticking. I also use it to lubricate my air tools, have for many years works great. :2cents:

dump it down the carb while the truck is running. to clean up your valves. if it spills in your crossover toolbox it will lube up all your tools you have in there too.

And don't forget to leave a can of black Rustoleum in the tool box with the cap off. Eventually something like, oh...a bottle jack, will hit the nozzle and all your tools will be a nice rust proof black too!

I use it in my impact gun at home, and in the jackhammer at work. Never tried it in a vehicle though.
