Uncle Jesse

Post by hotfuzz67 »

Bought this "67 a couple of months back, been sittin' in the drive way collecting rain water in the bed. Anyway, just started to wrk on it and nothing is as it seems. Here are a couple of pics, will post some more later. The VIN says it's a 352.........the guy at the valve shop says it's a 360 or 390????? Shouldn't there be a serial # on the engine block? :?

The only way to tell, is with the head off, measure the bore, and the stroke, then use the displacement formula (or cheat and find a disp. calculator online where all you gotta do is enter some numbers and it does the math for you.) to find out what you got, because you can NOT tell just by looking at the heads. I have seen many a set of bone stock 352 heads get put on a 428. There are different heads out there, that breath better than others, and some of them only came on specific motors, but unless you know for a fact what the stroke and bore is, there is no way to know whats been done to that motor before you got to it...

looks like a good truck to start out with. and i am on board with the 67 looking the best out of all of the bumps. as for the motor if its all original then its a 352. all the fe motors looks like each other. they did not put the 360/390's in tell 1968 and they put the 390's in the 2x's and the 360's in the 4x's.

You can measure the stroke without removing the head. Im willing to bet its a 352. The guys at the shop prob. dont know the '67 had the 352 in em'.
