jnash40 wrote:just curious what headers did you use , and did you have to cut the frame for them to fit, i have a 302 and i heard there are problems putting the headers in??
I believe these are the exact headers that I got:

No cutting of the frame was required for clearance.

The selector shaft is held on by a nut from the inside. Pan has to be removed, valve body removed by removing the 8, 3/8" headed bolts, small nut removed on the outside from the kickdown lever and then large nut (requires 7/8" wrench, I believe) removed from the inside linkage.
You can see the nut on the inside of the linkage in this picture:

Incidentally, I noticed in the pics that you and your wife have open-toed/flip-plop shoes on out in the garage :nono:
Just a little advice; a toasted foot takes a long time to heal. Even something as simple as a dropped wrench could result in some serious foot pain.
When I was a kid at my dad's shop I had flimsy shoes on and, while stepping over an engine block, clipped a corner on the block just in the right spot on my foot to hit a nerve. To this day, if I hit that spot again, it makes my entire foot feel cold as ice. Protect your feet, they're the only set you're gonna get

I agree, and that's why I'm not wearing them. The wife was sure to steer clear of any danger, and only came outside to bring water and snap photos from time to time. Matt assured me that his were steel-toed flip flops. :hmm:

Thanks for the tip.

The 390 lives!

The headers are leaking a bit, so there's an annoying tick, and Matt still has some tuning to do on the carb. It's great to finally hear it run, tho!
