4x4 FE Oil Pans...Can you remove them

4x4 FE Rear Sump Oil Pans...Can you remove them WITHOUT Lifting or Jacking the Engine up?

can't answer for sure, but if its your 4x4 why not go out and look and see if the pan could be lowered down and out....

No,I dont have one thats why I ask.

I was going to use a Rear Sump Pan for my New FE Stroker.New AfterMarket ones run around $300.00 and am trying to save a little if it will work.
Plus the Rear Sump holds more Oil and is a Rear Sump instead of the Front sump type.(For what I'm doing with my Truck a Rear Sump is Better)

The aftermarket ones (some of them) can be removed without Lifting the Engine.

in a 4x4 yes i can remove it with out jackin-up the motor in a 2wd i have no idea if you will need to jack-it up if a 4x4 pan is in a 2wd...adios

Thought the Cross member was the same in the Trucks....

i doubt the cross member in my 3/4ton 4x4 and a 1/2ton 2wd are the same when i think about it it does look like it could be done I'll have my digital camera on here again soon (newone) so maybe i can make a couple snaps of mine to show you....

My 429 oil pan didnt come out without jacking the motor like 8-10 inches 2wd f1.... I dropped a wrench down the distributor hole and couldnt get it out by any means.

On the F-250 the pan will come off no problem as there isn't a crossmember under it. I think On the F-100,150 it will be about the same as doing a 2wd.

I had to jack the 390 in my '68 F100 clear of the engine mounts before I could get the pan out.

Cobra, be sure to get the oil pick up, dipstick and the stud on the main cap that the pick up tube bracket mounts to. Otherwise the tube will hang there unsupported.

I have everything for the Pan BUT I'm Not going to use the 4x4 Pan anymore I'm going to use the FT Pan(Holds 10qts.)

The 4x4 Pan can be used but if you want better Oil Flow then you need to do the following:

- What you do is use the FT Oil Pick-Up as it is a Bigger Size Tube and moves more Oil.Also you wont have to remove one of the Main Cap Bolts as it will bolt to the Block Pan Rail.You do have to Tap a Hole but it is already there just has to be Tapped and you attach the Pick-Up Tube Brace there.
(The Pick-Up Tube sits in the same place as the 4x4 Pick-Up Tube.)

- The 4x4 Pick-Up Tude is just under 1/2"
- FT Pick-Up Tube is 3/4" so it can move more oil.Also has a removeable Screen so you can clean it better.

I was going to use the 4x4 Pan but changed my mind only because of the extra Oil the FT Pan holds...And I wont have to worry about Sucking-It-Dry at High RPM's.
