67 only option

Post by 67F250CS »

Cruising eBay a bit ago and ran across a couple of things I thought I would ask about.

Did Ford make a 1/4 ton?? Check this one out.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1967-FOR ... dZViewItem
Also looking at hood latches and plates/ bars where the hood latch hooks on to when its closed. My 67 has 2 bars that bolt separately like pic #1

I was looking at other years and they all seem to have a larger one piece plate like pic #2.

Can I use the 1 piece one? It looks much stronger.

You know, I'm thinking my Dad's old 77 Blazer was rated as a 1/4. I apologize for talking about Off Brand's, so to speak. But, It was titled as a K-5. Used to be Chevys went K-10, K-20, K-30 for 1/2, 3/4, & 1 ton.

I think 67F250CS found someone that made a typo. But weren't the mini trucks from the 70's 1/2 tons?

Never heard of a 1/4 ton. :hmm:

I like the two bars, it's a lot cleaner looking than the big plate.

K5 was a 1/2 ton just like the K10.

I had a '78 Blazer and it was a K5.
Never really thought about that before.
I know Chevy pickups go K10, 20, 30.
It's OK to mention other brands here.

As a friend used to say when things were starting to sound exaggerated-
DON'T EAT IT HARRY, IT'S HORSE SH** !

Actually, I sent him a note asking for the first few letters of the vin, but I'm not gonna hold my breath for a reply.

I can say unequivocally that the '67 F100 was never offered as a '1/4-ton', only as a half-ton pickup.

The hood latch differences are another item I've been meaning to add to the ID page. The '67-'69 have the two-bar style, the '70-'72 have the flat steel style....and they ARE interchangeable. In fact, I'm using the '70-'72 style on my '79 radiator support for my '67. :D

I just had to ask so I sent the seller a question in regards to his allegations of the production number and how he came up with the 1/4 ton payload. Lets see if he responds and if he does I will post it. :D

mk: a 5-bolt Dana 60 was indeed an option for F-100s...in fact, I've got one in my '67.

Also an update regarding the swapping of hood latch receivers as mentioned above. The ASSEMBLIES are interchangeable....however, the upper valance panel must match the latch. A '67-'69 upper valance panel will not work with a '70-'72 latch without some modification, since it's a bit wider. In fact, I just found this out this afternoon while working on my truck. In assembling the parts for my project, I bolted on the '70-'72 style onto my radiator support before shipping it off to get powdercoated, thinking it would work with my '67-'69 upper valance. However, this afternoon while assembling the front end to check for fitment of all pieces, I found that the early valance panel will not work with the later latch. Therefore, I'm having to go with the early-style latch, since I didn't save a later upper valance panel from any of my parts trucks.

I will be updating the ID page within the next few days with this info.
