My '67 bump

Post by uptboi31 »

I got this truck last October and been slowly working on it. It's a str8 six and short bed but it's a total rust bucket. Doing all the body work and paint by myself. Never attempted to do something this involved ever but always wanted to. I have a '68 camaro thats a show car but it was nice when I got it so this is my first real project. I'm not trying to make this into a show truck or be perfect, it's just to kick around in. The reason i picked this truck is because it's the year grill I remember as a kid that my grandpa's painting business had as company trucks and he used to drive us around on Sundays when we would go with him to his office/shop and bug him to take us for a ride in the work trucks. He hated to do it since he had his Olds delta 88. These were typical commercial company trucks, dirty and beat up but we loved riding in the back bed as kids. Pics from where I started to just last weekend coming up.

Well, I was going to upload pics, but I'm not very good at computers and even though I have resized them, I can't figure out how to upload them or even open a folder in the members gallery to put them in. i don't see a link to register at the top of the page of the photo gallery. If anyone can help me out, send me a pm with some basic instructions so I can upload the pics.

The photo gallery has been suspended to new membership due to excessive spamination, I think. For resizing, open the photo in MS Paint, comes with every computer, and select "resize". Then resize to 800 pixels wide x 600 pixels tall. Save as .jpg and see if that works.

The easiest way to share pictures is to just upload them to a Photobucket account. This way you dont even need to resize them. Once you have them all uploaded to your photobucket account, then each picture will have several links to use for sharing that picture. Copy the IMG link and paste it into your post. When you save your posts, the pictures will automatically show from your Photobucket account in your Fordification post.

Super easy.

As you can see in that last pic of my previous post, someone had placed sheet metal over the huge holes in the rusted out floor. I bought new floor pans and had them replaced and then started sanding the interior and sprayed it white so it will match the exterior once I get around to finishing the truck. Interior was then primed and finish coated.

Underside was next. Huge amount of work to clean and sand before spraying it with a cheap harbor freight gun. Used a rust converting coating and for the finish rustoleum satin black. Before and after.

Next was starting to fix the rust holes in the body, some cutting out the really bad spots and having a friend weld in new sheet metal and some by using mesh and bondo... I did as best as I could and started priming it.

Next was cleaning years of grease and oil from the underside of the hood and getting it primed and finished. Image

As you can see, I tried to get the pics to show in my post so you wouldn't have to click on the links, but couldn't get it to work for me...thanks for you help though...Last two pics are where I'm at after six months of work on weekends and when I had time and the weather was good enough to work on it. I'm not trying to rush this, I'm trying to get it half way nice. I hope to have it done by next summer.

Use the link that photobucket provides titled IMG. They provide 4 links for each picture... The IMG link is the bottom one.

Ok, fixed the links so the pics show up now...thanks so much for your help with that. Here's a look at the interior now that everything is back together. Still need to install the new dash cover, floor mat, door seals and headliner I bought, but waiting till I get the whole truck finish painted first. Also need to get that seat redone too.

I did mention I had a '68 camaro. I know this is a ford truck page but thought I would share it too since it's as old as the truck and finished already.
