I understand about the environment and all,but I feel that this new r-whatever freon was a great way to fleece the public into spending lots of money to keep cool in the summer...Sorry....My grumble for the day....

The real reason R-12 has been replaced is that DuPont was about to lose it's patent on the stuff.
Wanna guess which corporation holds the patent on R-134a?

this mom and pop parts store down the street sells R-12.

I once helped a guy move a storage shed full of r-12. didn't nknow what it was worth. He said we could have whatever didn't fit in the uhaul(over half the shed). Told him that was ok.

Ps. in previous post mentioned my interest in the whole thing including the bracke from the engine.
