this ain't one of our trucks but thought i would share. I was changing the brakes and tires on my dads 95 bronco when i got to looking at the piston in the calipers. The face of it that contacts the inside pad looked like the peaks of the tetons. it was all jagged and rough, when i pressed it back in with a c clamp, the seal broke, and brake fluid squirted out. so we ordered new ones, and went to put them on and found out that the bolts had stripped, so we had to get new ones.

The bolts had striped on what the caliper? caliper slide? Brake rotor?
What kind of shape was the brake rotor in?
We need more info on your predicament. You have too many "gray" (vague) areas in your statement.

the bolts that hold the caliper on to the spindle. the rotor was fine. the new ones' worked because we went up to Mt. Hood and back and didn't crash.
