OK, I'm going to say this and then wait to be pounced by others: there's nothing wrong with drum brakes.

The drums on these trucks are huge and work very well when adjusted properly. You can replace the complete stock braking system very cheaply through sites like RockAuto. I don't know what your financial situation is, but completely new manual drums would work quite well if other priorities require the big bucks....and at less time and money than any conversion will cost.

Knowing I was going to convert to a Crown Vic front clip, I still replaced the wheel cylinders, master, lines and shoes in my 1970. For the year I used the truck before the changeover to CV disks, that thing had really great brakes and it was dirt cheap! For a 2WD that may only see weekend duty, they're more than sufficient.

Just my :2cents: and actual value may be less.

ur not pounced on. Everyone is prob thinking the same thing. Why I have crickets lol.
I just haven't put the lil time or $ into em yet. I did order the other front wheel cylinder the other day though, so I will b doing the oem drums well I order all my other parts for the disc conversion. Ill prob even put a cheap booster on it for the drums.

for prob $1400 I could do all discs. $ and time are no restraints as I have other cars to drive and work daily, so its a matter of time and will power. I want discs cuz they are what I know.
Right now currently I can lock up the backs if I push into it hard enough. Also kinda pulls down and right. Why I got the other wheel cylinder.
Ur correct and no worries!

I was unaware of that CPP kit, it actually looks like a solid kit!

I agree drums can be fine, again depends on what kind of shape the components are in, if the drums are serviceable some shoes and hardware kits are pretty economical.

Trucks really giving me a hard time like usual.
Founds an early or what I think is an early 70's f250 the other day a junk yard or auto recycler what ever u wanna call it.
My mom needed a new tranny for her chevy truck and I was gonna pick it up but they couldn't find it on there shelves.

Anyways they are gonna call me today and I asked for all the brake components. I might just see what they want for the whole under front end.

Parts are rolling in. Ive got the booster, Bracket kit, new lines, proportioning valve for drum/drum, and im just waiting on the lines to the wheel cylinders. Hard to find the drum/drum proportioning valve. I found it at Carolina trucks I think it was. Stainless braided lines to the wheels. Leed brakes I think is my bracket kit and lines are off ebay. Cant remember the company name. Also booster I got at local auto store.
Im a bit hung over today and its early here. 6:17am. @ work.
Have a good one all!

Hi all
Been a long time since i worked on the truck. I had some 67 armrests rehoplystered and they look great.
I used aircraft cleaner and a razor blade today to try and get some of the old yellow of old yellar. Lol.
Watching eastwood videos on body work... i have an idea of what to do and how to do it but no idea about products or the order in which to do them.
I dont need it all down to bare metal i dont think. Lol.
The layers and colors im seeing! Lol.
The roof and hood of the truck are about ready for something. Im just not sure what yet. Lol!
Felt good to work on the truck today. I checked fluids and looked at my alternator. Its a tuff stuff 100amp.
1 wire.
Hopefully the last of the 3 or 4 alternators ive gone through.

I need to do the rear wheel bearings so the shop can fine tune my rear drums. I have no desire to play with em. Lol.
They worked great last i drove it with the new booster! They just said they could make em even better they thought after i removed the play in the rear bearings.

I have an extra or spare 67' f100 brake booster bracket kit. Lol! Oops. Thought someone jacked it off my front porch but turns out i had it in the garage still unopened in the delivery packaging. Lol.
I got a deal on it after explaining my mail theft issues. Lol.
Need to take it with me next time i go to a truck parts show or something. Maybe trade value i guess.
