New Truck Suspension

Post by rsjohnsn »

I just bought a '68 F100 SWB 2x4 Ranger and I want to do some suspension work to it before anything else. I want to use lowered I-beams but I'm not sure which ones to get. I have seen tie-rod relocators, do I need these? Also, I want to install power disc brakes so do I need to get the I-beams for disc? Whats the difference between disc and drum I-beams? Anything I need to know or get before I start ordering? I would also like to see some pics of lowered trucks by using the lowered I-beams only. Also, what is the best way to lower the rear? Shackle relocation or over spring conversion? I would rather not c-section the frame if I dont have to!

Thanks
Scott

Check out the following page...it'll answer most of those questions:

There are no differences in the I-beams between disc and drum brakes....the difference is in the spindle. You'll need the proper spindle for whatever brake style you choose to install....I'd highly recommend discs, obviously.
