1970 F100 AM Radio replacement

Post by spliff08069 »

I want to replace my old AM unit and replace it with something that will fit in the factory dash and require no cutting or out of place installation kits. All I have been able to find is the Custom Auto Sound USA-230, USA-630 II, and the USA-740. I was wondering if anyone had installed one of these units and if they had any pictures after install. And of course your thoughts on the unit about appearance, quality, and use. Any help would be appreciated.

RetroSound also makes one, see Bullitt74’s thread “Project 'Smokey' - '72 Ranger XLT” in Projects.

I am currently in the process off installing a RetroSound radio in my truck. I chose their Laguna radio which is AM/FM with an aux input. Their higher end radios have Bluetooth and USB input capabilities with a similar look. I also opted for the Ford AM radio screen protector option as you can see. Here is a pic showing the unit mounted in the bezel. It does mount in the truck in the stock opening without cutting or modification. The knobs are heavy metal (not the cheap plastic on some other radios) and feel good to the touch. I think they did a good job making it look period correct.

I did the same thing. I liked the look of the unit. I got it with Bluetooth and also separate usb port and aux input which I have not installed yet.

$100 plus actual shipping. I've had these for a long time and I do believe they all worked

I would possibly be interested in one of the factory am/fm radios if you have enough to go around . Let me know what the total price would be including shipping to zip 80233. Thanks
