What is This Part?

Post by jor »

I put my heater box back together tonight after cleaning it all up and painting it. Unfortunately, I can't remember where this clip goes (first the hair, then the memory). Anybody know? It's about three inches long btw.

I think it holds the heater core on the heater assembly. Not 100 % on that.

OK, I did some digging in the Master Parts Catalog and found the schematic for the heater. Here's a close-up of the part you're asking about.

Hey, thanks a million, Keith. I guess it must have just dropped out when I disassembled it. I put a spacer in there to keep it tight when I reassembled it and it's back in the truck so I think I'll leave well enough alone. If the core ever starts leaking I'll put that little baby where it's supposed to go. Thanks again for digging this up for me.

Looks like I scored a double on your answer. I have a pair of those nifty car-like mirrors that I'm putting on my 68 and I was trying to figure out the best placement for them and I see that one of your diagrams gives the exact measurements! Come to Arizona sometime and I'll buy you a beer and a couple of tacos!!!
