69 F250 Ranger Camper Special

Post by tucray »

Does anyone know what retains the speedometer gear on the tail shaft of a c6 short tail shaft? All I have found are IPC's showning the long output shaft where the speedometer drive teeth are machined into the shaft. My tail shaft is only about 3" long and I can spend the gear with my finger through the cable hole. The drive shaft yoke is bolted to the output shaft.

If you have a bolt-on yoke type C6, the drive speedometer gear is held in place by the yoke tightened against it. There is no snap ring, clip, ball, key, nor any other method to keep it from turning.
