Kickdown linkage needed

Post by yellercat »

New 1970 F-100 auto 302 is missing the kickdown linkage.
This is the C4 auto and the missing parts are those that attach to the firewall.
Not totally familiar with what should be there, so may need to ask some questions to isolate the specific parts missing
Meanwhile will do some research to id xactly' whats needed.

It's just one rod that connects to the trans shift linkage and to the carb linkage. nothing connects anywhere else. When I get home i will get you a picture of the one on the motor I just pulled from my 72.

Most of these rods were for two barrel carbs so if you have a four barrel carb you will need the extension for the kick down rod.
But here is some crappy pics of mine.

I replaced the factory stuff with an after market cable kit. It's been about six months and it's spring great.

With the reference to attaching to the firewall...

That sounds like the throttle linkage with trapeze ... I haven’t seen a properly functioning trapeze in YEARS! Everyone just puts a rod from the pedal to the carb.

Thanks a ton for the pics Bandit, now I know what and how it works. A first for me.
Also, have learned that the proper linkage stabilizer is missing, and sounds like not used much any more, DuckRyder! Appreciate that too.

Managed to lose the carb ball joint connection, and nothing but cheapo available for replacement, so looking to the salvage places around to find it and maybe the kickdown rod. The truck still has the two barrel carby on it, but its rebuilt !!

thanks for the replies, guys!
