Just pulled out the seat. Since I don’t want the smell of salty old fisherman, I’m guessing from the looks of the foam I should do a complete rebuild of the seat. Thoughts?

Shop around for a better replacement seat,

:yt: if you don't care if the seat is the original type for the truck, then I would go for the 1973 to 79 seat as mentioned above. They have more cushion and are more comfortable. They are also safer than the original seats as they have a latch on each side of the bench seat that keeps the seat from flying forward if you have an accident. The only issue you have is if you have a in cab tank they can put dents in your gas tank if you have the seat all the way back. If you go to re-upholster your 73-79 bench seat, you will need the 73-79 kit, as the 1967-72 upholstery won't fit.

The snohomish one looks better than mine. I’m gonna tear mine up today and get a better idea how bad is it. The thing that really caught my attention was the deteriorating foam. Thanks for the searches.

Don't put many miles on this truck, but do love the idea of the safer seat, and not going all stock. Yes, in cab tank. Solid idea. Thanks.

The 73-79 Ford bench seat is a direct bolt-in for the 67-72s. Yes more comfortable, built better. I did not notice any marks on my gas tank - and driving with it all the way back does seem to give a little more leg room. :thup:

Decided to learn myself some upholstery basics. Frame & springs are in good shape. Re-burlapped and re-foamed. Put on a temporary cover until I save for what I WAAANT - leather seat. Is that bonkers?
