steering question

Post by splavin90 »

will a power steering (power steering box, pump, res,) from a later truck (73-xx) work on my 68 f100
69 F100 81' 302 / 73' fmx

I'd rather go hunting with Dick Cheney than go driving with Kennedy

It'll be a direct bolt-in...to the frame anyway. However, as fordman states, if your truck has an FE from the factory, the left-side engine stand will either need to be notched for clearance, or you need to find the engine stand from a post-'70 truck. It'll be angled slightly different to clear the box.

I'm using a '79 steering box in my '67. However, I also went with the '79-style steering components, since there are differences in size and shape.

Basically, if you go to use the '73-up steering box in your truck, you'll need to use the Pitman arm from a mid-'71 and older Saginaw box, so it'll mate up with your present steering components.
