Went to rebuild my carb and found some problems, the jets were stripped and some other parts were broken. So I went to to a local guy to see if he had any in stock, sold me one off a newer truck that was just rebuilt. Vacuum ports are different, there is a big one on the carb on the backside, and one on the front up top. The problem I'm having is the truck will fire and then dies unless I give it gas. Where do I start looking? Also the original air cleaner assembly hits the top vacuum port, any idea on what will clear?

Got a photo of the new carb? The large port on the back should be for the PCV valve hose. For now, cap the unknown one on the front. Spacer rings are available for most air cleaners. A 1/2" spacer will probably give you enough clearance. https://www.summitracing.com/search/par ... eyword=air

Currently the pcv goes tot the spacer under the old carb. Do I tee it and go to the new one, or pull it off the spacer, cap that and go to the new carb?

Yeah, pics have to be 500kb or less. If your uploading from your phone, view the pic and take a screenshot. Crop the screenshot down to just the important part and save. Then try to upload the cropped version. If on your home computer, open the pic in MS Paint and resize to 800x600 pixels.

Well, I feel dumb. The gasket included with the rebuild kit was the wrong size, there was a 3/8" gap along the back of the carb i didn't see. put the right gasket on and it fired right up.

At least you didn't use the wrong intake gaskets, get a big internal vacuum leak, burn lots of oil, and have to R&R the intake...
