putting trim back on

hey folks, those that have repainted their trucks and put your side molding back on. Either bump molding or rocker panel molding, if you used new molding clips, did you also use some silicone sealer for the bolt and rivet holes?

I have not replaced my side molding or rocker molding yet, but here are a couple quotes from others that have, and what they did to protect the paint behind the molding: "When I install trim I'll coat the holes behind the clips with rust proofing" "i alway wax behind chrome and leave it on, dont wipe off".

I would think that a glob of silicone squeezing out around each side of the hole would be more likely to trap moisture and cause problems on the perimeter of the hole.

2nd, has anyone found good rocker panel molding clips? kind of feel the few I got from DC don't seem to be tight enough.

Never ordered from them but maybe try these guys. And yes, like MAK said we should never use silicone caulking on any body panel on our trucks as it traps moisture promoting rust, (as me what it did to my 71' Ranchero when someone tried it).

what has folks used for the larger holes for the trim and for the trim top of the hood? I'm also missing the plastic pieces to screw the tail lights into.
