Article 942 - Headlamp Adjusting Screw Tabs Bending or Breaking

TSB #51 - November 18, 1966
(1966-67 All Trucks, Thunderbird)

Reports have been received from the field of difficulties being encountered while adjusting the headlamps. Specifically, when an attempt is made to turn the headlamp adjusting screws a binding condition occurs and results in the bending or breaking of the adjusting screw tabs. This is caused by the lack of proper lubrication between the headlamp housing and the housing and ring assembly.

Assembly plants have been alerted to this problem and 1967 units built after September 1, 1966 will have the proper lubrication. Dealers encountering difficulty while adjusting the headlamps can apply C4AZ-19584-A Polyethylene Grease at the three points where the housing and ring assembly touch the headlamp housing. See Illus. S1143-A.
