Article 1997 - Proper Adjustment of Door Latch Striker to Preclude Lock-Out

TSB #126 - November 7, 1969
(All W Series Trucks)

To preclude inadvertent locking of the doors on the "W" Series, it is necessary to establish and maintain proper adjustment between the striker and the door latch dovetail.

The following adjustment procedures should be implemented, when necessary, to insure positive action of the anti-lockout feature of the latch mechanism:

    1. Adjust the striker inboard/outboard as required to obtain a flush condition 1/16" of the door surface to the body surface as shown on Figure 4, View A.
    2. Adjust the striker vertically as required to obtain a clearance of 3/32" to 7/32" between the striker and the upper edge of the door latch dovetail as shown on Figure 4, View B.
    3. Adjust the striker fore or aft by adding or removing shims to obtain a clearance of 1/16" to 5/32" between the striker and the door latch dovetail as shown in Figure 4, View B.
