Article 95 - Disc Brake Squeal

(Capri - All Models Built Prior to August 1971)


To correct brake squeal during light brake application on vehicles built prior to LT (August 1971) the following procedure should be used:

    1. Obtain Anti-Squeal Kit, Part No. D1RY-2001-D or D1RY-2001-E.
    2. Remove pads as outlined in the Capri Shop Manual (Part 12-08).
    3. Install new pads, shims and anti-rattle springs as shown in Fig. 3. Apply a thin layer of grease (included in the Anti-Squeal Kit), to both sides of the shims prior to assembly.
    NOTE: On vehicles built after August 1971, the new pads, shims and anti-rattle springs have been installed in production.
