Article 119 - Radiator - Leaks

TSB #11 - February 11, 1972
(1972 Capri with 1600cc Engines Built Prior to August 1971)

A radiator on a 1600 cc Capri built prior to August, 1971 (Built Codes - TL) vehicle that experiences several severe leaks should be replaced with the latest design level radiator and attaching parts as outlined below:
    1. Remove air deflector.
    2. Remove radiator and the two "bolt on" side channels that support it and the fan shroud.
    3. Assemble the new radiator (Part No. D2RY-8005-B) to the new fan shroud (Part No. D2RY-8146-A) and the new "box type" mounting channel (Part No. D2RY-8K146-A).
    4. Install the assembly into the vehicle.
    5. Install a new air deflector (Part No. D2RY-8327-A).
    6. Install new radiator top hose.
    7. Test cooling system for leaks.
NOTE: The previous design level radiator is still to be used for normal service replacements. Also, where minor radiator leakage is encountered, normal radiator repair methods should be used. Replace radiator only in cases of severe, repetitive, leakage.
