replacement metal

Post by craftsman »

For the areas that there is no after market panels, where do you guys get your metal to weld in and make a patch? I saw some at lowes and it didn't look like galvinize. would this work for some firewall repair?
Thanks in advance

I get mine at a place here called "The Yard Store"

They by surplus fasteners and usable metal from all the fabrication and aircraft companys around here. I can get just about what ever I want. Pay by the pound.

Lowes, Home Depot, TSC are all WAY over priced! a 2'x2' peice at TSC would be like $30 but at the yard it would be like $4

you could do what cough " friends " of mine did. The stole road signs cut them up and used them to patch up some places on their cars. Thats ilegal so i wouldn't try it.

I get my sheet metal from metal supermarket, or work. but i do not like welding galvanized tin or metal , I do not ever want to get gal poisoning ever a gain, if you are welding on gal, use a respirator, and drink some milk every couple hours. :2cents:
